Accerta’s Board of Directors is comprised of recognized leaders across a broad range of experience and expertise who oversee the management of our business, provide guidance for our strategic initiatives, and ensure the vitality of our firm.

 

Ken Smith

Chairman and Director

Dr. Smith is an independent business strategy consultant and a corporate director with more than 25 years’ experience, serving in multiple roles at firms such as McKinsey & Company, and SECOR Consulting where he was Managing Partner and Chair of the Board. The former Associate Dean of Executive Education at the University of Guelph, Dr. Smith holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from York University, and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Mathematics, and an MBA from the University of Toronto. He is also an accredited director with an ICD.D. from the Institute of Corporate Directors and is a Certified Management Consultant.

 

 

Gail DiCintio

Director

Ms. DiCintio is a Partner and Vice-President Operations with Larus Technologies, a software company specializing in “big data solutions” using predictive data analytics. Ms. DiCintio has been involved in the Technology Sector for over 30 years, including as a Strategy and Technology consultant at both Fujitsu and Deloitte Consulting. Her experience includes strategic planning, change management and technology innovation projects for private, public and not for profit organizations. She was also VP Human Resource Development at Fujitsu, with global responsibilities for Career Development, Retention and Succession Planning Programs. Ms. DiCintio has served as a director for a number of organizations in the credit union sector, hospitals and community organizations.

 

 

Steve Dobronyi

Director

Mr. Dobronyi is an independent corporate director with 35 years of experience in insurance and financial services.  He is the retired Chief Executive Officer of Echelon Insurance, a publicly-traded property & casualty insurance company.  Prior to that, he served in a number of senior roles at Manulife Financial in general management and finance in the Corporate, Canadian and U.S. divisions.  Earlier in his career, he was a Principal at Mercer where he was a founding member of its life insurance consulting practice.  Mr. Dobronyi has an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.  He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

 

 

 

John Goudey

Director

Mr. Goudey is a chartered accountant by profession, and a retired partner from Ernst & Young after 35 years of service. His industry specialization focused on clients in the technology, communications, and entertainment (TCE) sectors. Throughout his career, he has been both a client-serving partner and a resource for TCE professionals in Canada, advising them on a variety of issues including business strategy and financial matters, domestic and cross-border public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic alliances. His client base included both not-for-profit enterprises in the public and private sectors.

 

 

 

Dr. Andrew Syriopoulos

Director

Dr. Andrew Syriopoulos is a graduate of the University of Toronto Dental Faculty with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Biology and a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He is the owner of and Clinical Director of Danforth Neighborhood Dental Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Syriopoulos serves on the Board of York Mills Heights Residents’ Association. He is an active member of and has served as Vice-Chair of Greektown BIA.  He has served in a variety of positions on the ODA including having served as President of Toronto East Dental Society, Toronto Regional Director of the ODA’s Political Action Committee and most recently served on the Ontario Dental Association’s Board for six years serving as chair of the Human Resources and Compensation Committee and most recently as a member of the Finance and Risk Committee. He is also a former President of the Asclepius Dental Society. His professional affiliations include the Ontario Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association, and Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. Honourary Societies include the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the International College of Dentists.

 

Dr. Ira Kirshen

Director

Dr. Ira Kirshen is a graduate of the University of Toronto Dental Faculty with a Doctor of Dental Surgery where he graduated cum laude and received an award in removable prosthodontics. He maintains a general private practice in Richmond Hill, Ontario, has been a staff dentist at York Central Hospital for more than 26 years, and the Chief of Dentistry for seven years. Dr. Kirshen is past president of the York Region Dental Society and was an active member on the Ontario Dental Association’s Board serving as president in 2009-2010. He is also a former Board member and president of the York South Association for Community Living, and he served on the Board and is past president of the Chai-Tikvah Foundation. His professional affiliations include the Alpha Omega Dental fraternity, Ontario Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association, and Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario. Honour Societies include the Pierre Fauchard Academy, American College of Dentists, and International College of Dentists.

 

Peter Owsiany

President and CEO

Mr. Owsiany joined AccertaClaim Servicorp Inc. as President and CEO in May 2016. Before joining Accerta, he held various positions at TELUS Health, and he has more than 20 years of global operations and sales experience with Canadian- and U.S.-based, multinational corporations, which included postings in Japan, Singapore, the U.S., and South Africa. In his last international posting, he held the position of Managing Director of Sterling Commerce Asia (a subsidiary of IBM) where he managed the Asian operations from Singapore. Mr. Owsiany holds a B.Comm. from Concordia University, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and he has participated in various executive programs including Harvard University (Cybersecurity), Wharton-SMU Research Center, and the Schulich School of Business at York University. He is also deeply involved in serving and supporting various not-for-profit organizations across the Greater Toronto Area.
