President, CEO and Chief Privacy Officer
Mr. Owsiany joined AccertaClaim Servicorp Inc. as President and CEO in May 2016. He also sits on our Board of Directors. Before joining Accerta, he held various positions at TELUS Health, and he has more than 20 years of global operations and sales experience with Canadian- and U.S.-based, multinational corporations, which included postings in Japan, Singapore, the U.S., and South Africa. In his last international posting, he held the position of Managing Director of Sterling Commerce Asia (a subsidiary of IBM) where he managed the Asian operations from Singapore. Mr. Owsiany holds a B.Comm. from Concordia University, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and he has participated in various executive programs including Harvard University (Cybersecurity), Wharton-SMU Research Center, the Schulich School of Business at York University and obtained a Certificate in Privacy Law and Information Management in Healthcare from Osgoode Hall Law School. He is also deeply involved in serving and supporting various not-for-profit organizations across the Greater Toronto Area.
Kara Martin, CPA, CMA
Director of Finance
Ms. Martin is Chartered Professional Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant who joined Accerta in 2014. Before joining Accerta, she held progressively senior positions in Financial Analysis and Reporting, most recently with Bank of Nova Scotia working in Statutory Reporting. In addition to overseeing the finance and accounting functions at Accerta, Ms. Martin leads the fraud and abuse, internal audit, quality assurance and provider service departments. She holds a Bachelor of Managerial and Organizational Studies, with a major in Finance from the University of Western Ontario.
Sr. Director Call Centre Operations and Customer Delivery
Ms. Ferreira joined Accerta in 2013 and manages the claims and contact centre. Ms. Ferreira has over 20 years’ insurance experience as an Operations Business Leader in multiple roles within the Financial Services and Pharmacy Benefit Management industry with extensive, progressive experience on Group Drug, Health, and Dental Benefits. Ms. Ferreira has managed, developed, and coached diverse and multifunctional teams to achieve results and execution of business priorities. Her work history includes: Benecaid Health Benefits Solutions, Sun Life Financial, ESI Canada, and Manulife Financial. She is experienced in managing teams through change and resolving conflicts and is a business expert, with proven skills in the identification and development of business needs for key projects.
